黄金三角 Golden Triangle, Thailand (source 1 and 2) is the name of the area which covers Thailand, Myanmar and Laos near the point where the three countries meet. It used be the very famous area for opium Nowadays the opium production decreased. The name remained for tourists who just want to see the point. You don't see any special things here. Just a normal Mekong River view and huge commercial development is much bigger than one of Chiang Sean. There is a Casino in Myanmar side and there was an idea which this area becomes a international tax heaven or gamble heaven with the connection to China by boats.
Really nothing special in Golden Triangle, however you should visit it once :) the boat ticket is 300 baht for one person.

Four countries tourist map

A happy lady without her man

We didn't go to this temple (I don't even know if it's a temple or what), I zoomed and snapped this shot. It was so far away ;)

Eyes like line, cheeks like bread, you can't see my eyes but you see a slice of bread. Somehow, I still love this pic, I think I have cute smile :)

2nd shot

Our reflection

Happy lady and her man, hahaha

Hmm..a lot of "me" :D

Ah, me again

ERM, meee again
Yes, that's the boat which charged us 300 baht for one person

God bless me, I don't swim
Hey I was kinda worried, kept talking to people to distract myself..the boat isn't that big but a lot of passengers

We passed by Golden Buddha Temple (I don't know the correct name)

Some photos along the way to Laos

That's the Myanmar Casino

It was a good day, didn't rain :)

:)

The man lives in tree, so romantic... I always wanted a tree house :)

Obviously the lady was fishing :P

So beautiful... :)

If I'm not mistaken, this is Laos

Roughy 20 minutes later, we reached Laos ^^

Yeaaaaa!
I didn't die, the boat was not as lousy as I thought :P

Welcome to Donsao ^^

Some Laos guys, hehee!

With Laos National flag

Want a Laos stamp?
The man in grey shirt can help :P
We were lining up to get our passport stamped

Hmmm?
Somehow the chop is without our arriving date :)

I saw a mail box,
What will happen if I put my passport inside? :P

Wowoo

Anyone?
Molly is a very cute lady, she is merely a year older than me ^^

Yikes!
We didn't have guts to try it

Things to buy here...
Nah, not these kind of masks, scarrrrry

Maybe this one?
Cute cute

This is the way they draw the eyes of wooden dolls

Hmmmm...this one?
No no no, my mum will scold me
"Why buy this one? Who's going to wipe it every week?"
Not me, so I didn't buy

Sarongs?
Erm...no

Violet?
Hahahaha, she's taken :P

Finally, I saw something I wanted to buy
Shawls, scarfs...

More (I only bought 2 shawls)

Hehee, do you know what these "square things" are?
These are pillows

Me chatting with Molly

:)

And this

Ermmm...actually I didn't intend to take photo with him, but he was there
"Do you want to take a photo with him?" Kevin asked me
"Ooh okay"
"Erm do you mind to take a photo with me?" I asked the man
"What? ME?! Really???" His reaction was big and he was very surprised
"Wowwwww, I'm so happy, she wants to take photo with me!" He screamed and told the whole world. This was why I smiled like this :D
30 minutes later, going back to Thailand

The children behind me in this photo were asking for money, I didn't give them. It's not about being generous or kind-hearted. I have my own point of view, I will talk about this next time

Xu Ying :)
She is a volunteer from China, currently staying in Thailand to teach Mandarin. Friendly and lovely! ^^

Lovely couple from Hong Kong :D
Thank god, I speak Cantonese, hehee

After we left Golden triangle, we headed to a restaurant called XXXXXXXX, huhuhu...I don't speak Thai. I don't even know if this is the name of the restaurant :'(

Tourists from all over the world, Thailand is a very lovely country, I'm very happy we are neighbours :)

Buffet style

After lunch, heading to Myanmar's border

Tired but happy :)

Next station, Myanmar's border :)
Hee! ^^

First things first...ALL of your pictures are beautiful! Not just that one where you're smiling. Lovely eyes, cheeks, AND nose!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on not giving those kids money, just because they're begging. It's bad when tourists come and give money to relieve their conscience. Pity never helped anyone to help themselves. Even in bad circumstances...you can't really know how bad it is until you're trying to dig your way out. I should know!
You shouldn't worry too much about what would happen to your passport if you dropped it in that mailbox...because it may not have been emptied for years. So you could have lots of time to decide how to get it out of there. haha
Tsk, tsk...so you don't know how to swim, huh? Well no matter...looking at that water, you would probably be eaten by crocodiles before you drown anyway! hahaha Much more distressing for me, is why you didn't bring your sexy purple lingerie on the trip. I mean really, what are you waiting for? hahaha
Finally, I think you were following that lady in the white hat, tan jacket, black shorts, and flip flops. Don't even bother denying it Violet! hahaha
Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience! It's a lot of fun...especially when I didn't take a vacation of my own this year. Your good-times, become my good-times too. All the best to you and Kevin!
Hahaha, I don't think there are crocodiles in that river :P
ReplyDeleteHey I didn't follow the lady! We signed up the same trip and went to places together, so you will a lot of 'her' in my photos. Hmmm soon you will get to see her beautiful face...I snapped a photo with her. Gagagaga :P
